A Rammstein concert in Coventry, England has resulted in noise complaints 17km away from the venue. Local tabloid the Coventry Telegraph has reported receiving several online complaints of a “loud thumping noise” from residents in towns surrounding the Coventry area. Some complaints came in from as far as 11 miles (approx 17km) away.
The “loud thumping noise” has since been confirmed to be the low-end sound from the Rammstein concert. In addition to the rumble, a loud boom was heard around 10.20 pm as fireworks lit up the night sky to end the concert.
Rammstein – ‘Zick Zack’
Given their reputation as one of the most eccentric live bands around, it’s no great surprise that the combined volume of their pyrotechnics and pulsating industrial metal could inspire complaints of this nature. Rammstein are currently on tour in Europe support of their new album, Zeit.
It’s not the first time a Rammstein show has made the news – in 2018 the band caused uproar in Russia following a same-sex kiss at their Moscow concert. The kiss was a protest against anti-LGBTQIA+ laws in Russia.
Australians looking to measure the decibel levels of their live shows might be in for a bit of a wait though, with the band currently making up for two years of cancellations across Europe before heading to North America. Rammstein have not been seen down under since the 2011 Big Day Out festival.
