Twenty-five years after they formed in Sydney, famous Australian rockers Ratcat are getting back together for a special show in their home town, scheduled for June.
Mess and Noise reports that the rare gig will take place at the Sydney Factory Theatre on Saturday June 18 and is designed to celebrate 20 years since the release of Ratcat’s landmark album Blind Love, a record notable as it hit the top of the album charts at the same time as single Don’t Go Now. A number one album at the same time as a number one single, not easy, was also achieved by INXS and then Savage Garden.
These days Ratcat are made up of founding vocalist and songwriter Simon Day along with drummer Andrew Polin and bassist Nic Dalton. The trio will perform Blind Love in its entirety, apparently as well as tunes from the Tingles EP – that included the song That Ain’t Bad that ended up on that Bonds TV advert.
The last time Ratcat played live was in 2006 when they convened for a set at the Come Together Festival at Luna Park. In the same year they supported the Psychedelic Furs.
Tickets for the one-off concert go on sale on May 13.
