Flea has gotten a tattoo of Bowie’s surname, complete with the signature flash logo running through it.

The slapper unveiled his new ink in an Instagram video, which he posted along with a lyric from Bowie’s iconic song Changes: “And these children that you spit on as they try to change their worlds”.

After hearing the news of the Starman’s passing, Flea also posted a number of tweets, expressing his sadness: “oh no. my hero. bowie. the most beautiful. i love him with everything i am. rock music is over, done. he was the best. none came close. rip”, read one.

Outside of Flea, every musician from Sir Paul McCartney to Marilyn Manson to Kanye West to Moby to Lorde has offered up heartfelt eulogies to the Starman, citing him as one of their greatest influences.

Beyond music, fashion moguls, politicians and even astronauts in outer-freaking-space have felt the impact of his loss.

While right across the world, thousands of fans have gathered in droves to honour the legendary singer’s life and legacy.

Speaking of which, the Sydney Festival is offering a free Bowie tribute event tonight, Wednesday 13th January for fans in the vicinity.

There are reports that David Bowie died of liver cancer after surviving six heart attacks, and it’s been confirmed that the iconic singer carefully planned his final album Blackstar, and music video Lazarus, as a final message and farewell to his beloved fans.
