Remembering Mac Miller: Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, Solange, Travis Barker & More React To His Untimely Death

The music world is coming to grips with the devastating loss of rapper Mac Miller today, who died following a suspected drug overdose at the age of 26.

The grief that’s currently pouring out of every corner of the industry is testament to the Pittsburgh MC’s wide-ranging musical influence and the huge love that he inspired, with some of the world’s biggest artists across the spectrum of hip-hop, pop, rock and beyond taking to social media to vent their heartbreak.

Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, Solange, Chance The Rapper, Travis Barker and Snoop Dogg are just some of Mac’s peers to share their thoughts, while here in Australia, artists such as Cub Sport and Alison Wonderland have also paid tribute (read what they all had to say below).

Meanwhile, Miller’s family have now confirmed the rapper’s death officially in a statement to Rolling Stone.

“Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26,” they write.

“He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.”

Mac had always been open about his struggles with substance abuse in his music, in particular his largely autobiographical 2014 mixtape, Faces.

He last toured Australia in 2017 for Listen Out Festival in support of his album, The Divine Feminine, back when he was dating Ariana Grande.

Grande has yet to comment publicly on the tragic news of his passing, but has has disabled comments on her Instagram in the wake of it, after the rapper’s fans began blaming and abusing her for his untimely death.
