Aussies, prepare to get Rickrolled. Lennard Promotions and Max TV are proud to announce the return of the inimitable Rick Astley to Australian shores as part of his Together Forever 2014 Australian Tour, and he’ll be bringing all the hits that made him a household name with him.
Born in the the North of England and raised in the small coal-mining town of Newton-Le-Willows, Astley was the youngest of four children and followed his mother’s footsteps into music. After finding local success with his high-school band, Astley was approached by Stock, Aitken & Waterman.
The high-profile hit-making crew, armed with Astley’s peerless vocals, turned the small-town singer into a star, sending now-eighties radio staples like Never Gonna Give You Up, Whenever You Need Somebody, When I Fall In Love, Together Forever, and She Wants To Dance With Me up the charts.
Astley’s sold over 40 million records and his first eight singles made the UK Top 10 chart, with the smash Never Gonna Give You Up hitting Number One in 25 countries. He was introduced to a new generation in the mid-2000s after the online practice of Rickrolling became a phenomenon.
Since his last visit to Australia, Astley has been working on new material, playing numerous festivals and shows across Europe, and embarked on a successful tour of South America. Now fans in Australia can witness this blue-eyed soul veteran’s resurgence for themselves this November.
Rick Astley’s Together Forever 2014 Australian Tour kicks off Wednesday, 19th November at the Whitlam Theatre in Sydney. The Lennard Promotion Members pre-sale starts Wednesday, 4th June, Visa pre-sale on Tuesday, 10th June, and general public tickets hit sale Tuesday, 10th June.
