Savage Lands Release New Single ‘No Remedy’

Savage Lands, the environmental non-profit metal band fronted by Megadeth drummer Dick Verbeuren, is back at making music work for a cause. Launched in 2022, the nonprofit helps raise money to reforest the land.

The band’s music channels all proceeds into the many causes. Their latest single is “No Remedy” from the new album released on Season of Mist Records, featuring Maria Franz of Heilung.

Guitarist Sylvain Demarcastle said, “That’s one of the beautiful things about Savage Lands. As a band, we’re not limited to just one genre. We can adapt to boost the strengths of whoever is joining us.” It’s the most melodic of their three singles releases to date with Poun, the band’s vocalist, and better-known for his work with Black Bomb A reigning in his usual screaming style to provide the perfect counterpart to Franz’s haunting vocals.”

Franz offered her excitement for the project: “Supporting what Savage Lands is doing on the ground in Costa Rica was an easy decision. But when Sylvain sent me ‘No Remedy,’ there was a sense of melancholy to the song that resonated with me.”

The music video brings a lovely aesthetic layer to this haunting atmosphere, with members of the band and Franz playing in a ruined building, which collapses at the end. On the promo trail, the band has recently played a killer show at Hellfest, with guest appearances from the likes of Sepultura’s Andreas Kisser, Napalm Death’s Shane Embury, Body Count’s Vincent Dennis, and others.

Listening to “No Remedy” supports Savage Lands’ environmental efforts; further donations are welcome. Indeed, the Savage Lands initiative highlights what many have said about how powerful music is in enacting positive change, whereby art helps an important cause, such as rainforest conservation.
