Scorpions Have Pulled Out Of Tonight’s Sydney Show With Def Leppard

Classic rock fans heading along to catch Def Leppard in Sydney tonight will no longer be treated to an opening set from Scorpions, with the German rock legends pulling the plug on their support slot due to illness.

A statement from Scorpions’ co-founder and lead singer  Klaus Meine reads:

“Dear Australian Fans, believe me I have tried everything to be up on Stage tonight in Sydney … I haven’t said a word in the last 36 Hours to rest my pipes but unfortunately my voice is not back to the power it needs to sing my heart out for you tonight. You deserve nothing less than the best Performance and I hope we have a chance to come back, to finally ‘Rock you Like a Hurricane’. Thank you for all the ‘get well soon’ messages. Thank you, Def Leppard, for your amazing support on this Tour. Love Klaus.”

Both Scorpions and tour promoter Live Nation have apologised for any disappointment.

It marks the second show on the bands’ Aussie tour with Def Leppard that Scorpions have been forced to axe, with the band also cancelling Thursday night’s Melbourne appearance.

Def Leppard will still perform their seminal album Hysteria in full as scheduled, with Aria-nominated Melbourne alternative rockers Dallas Crane announced as the official replacement opener.

Fans who purchased Scorpions Meet and Greet tickets are advised that the session will still go ahead as planned, only without Klaus.

Def Leppard’s Australian Hysteria Tour wraps up in Sydney tonight. Details below.
