In a headline that looks like it was spat out of a ‘2018 buzz word’ generator, Canadian pop sensation Shawn Mendes has apologised for liking a transphobic tweet posted by none other than Aussie, alt-right, neo-nazi d*ckhead Blair Cottrell.
We’re not too sure how this Venn diagram ever came to be, but Mendes copped a lot of flak for liking the tweet – which you can view if you must here.
unlike the tweet & apologize @ShawnMendes

so shawn mendes, who has allergic reactions to being called gay, just liked a transphobic tweet and you want me to believe it was an accident? pic.twitter.com/pAkXyYiSro

So @ShawnMendes goes out of his way to make sure people know he’s not gay, does an interview saying he faked a relationship so people would know he was straight, then “accidentally” likes a transphobic tweet… pic.twitter.com/igNlrjVP41

However, Mendes was quick to rectify the issue by unliking the tweet, and delivering a prompt apology on Twitter.
Must of accidentally liked it scrolling down a feed, you know me & I’d never. Sorry https://t.co/UXAe7F0eYH

Mendes will be in the country later this year, where he’ll be playing a whole string of massive arena shows as a part of his worldwide tour supporting his self-titled album, released last year.
