Sleepmakeswaves Drop Metallica Cover For 30th Anniversary Of ‘…And Justice For All’

Aussie post-rockers sleepmakeswaves have released a Metallica cover in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the band’s seminal album, …And Justice For All.

In a statement, sleepmakeswaves confessed their love of Metallica and why they chose to cover their song ‘To Live Is To Die.’

“It’s no secret that we are Metallica fanboys,” the statement reads. “Their ability to blend complex and developing compositions with ferocious riffs and compelling melody was a big part of the musical world we continue to be influenced by.”

“The most ambitious and technical album by far was …And Justice For All, released 30 years ago almost to the day in August 1989. As a tribute to the record Alex and Otto convinced Tim to do a sleepmakeswavesified cover of the album’s instrumental track ‘To Live Is To Die’. We tuned it down 5 steps, reconfigured some of the riffs and played with the structure slightly, but otherwise our cover is a fairly faithful recreation of a track we love.”

“We hope you enjoy our little tribute to one of our all time favourite metal records.”

This tribute comes after the announcement that sleepmakeswaves are embarking on a national 2018 tour this September. As for Metallica? There’s no Aussie tour planned yet, but they’ve made note that it’s definitely on their to-do list in the near future.
