Snoop Dogg Will Deliver The SXSW 2015 Keynote Speech

Snoop Dogg has reprised his original name and will be heading to Austin soon to deliver the 2015 keynote address at this year’s South By Southwest music festival.

Snoop will take to the SXSW podium on Friday, March 20th and while festival organisers haven’t detailed what he will specifically discuss, their statement highlights his “award-winning albums and songs, multiple films, lifestyle products, philanthropic efforts and digital ventures, including his YouTube original series GGN News.”

The announcement comes as Snoop unveiled his new track Peaches N Cream, the first single from his new Pharrell Williams-produced album, Bush. The track also features a contribution from r’n’b legend Charlie Wilson.

The rapper has been teasing the album for some time now, even once in a video while shilling fellow rapper Kurupt’s brand of weed. The album is due to be released this May and will also feature an appearance from Stevie Wonder.

Snoop Dogg also recently appeared in a video for the the new US anti-gun campaign #ImUnloading. “How I’ve been affected by gun violence over the years is through deaths of friends and family members and associates,” Snoop says in the video. The initiative encourages people to look into their retirement savings plan to ensure their money isn’t invested in the gun industry.

Snoop Dogg follows last year’s SXSW keynote speaker Lady Gaga, as well as previous speakers Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen.
