Soulfest 2014 Lineup Announced

Following the mysterious leak of an early lineup poster earlier this month, the lineup for Soulfest, “Australia’s first ever neo-soul, jazz and hip-hop festival,” has finally received official confirmation from organisers, with D’Angelo, Common, Aloe Blacc, and Mos Def set to top the bill.

A poster advertising Soulfest first appeared on singer and lineup member Anthony Hamilton‘s official Facebook page before it was swiftly taken down. The poster found its way to Twitter and several blogs, kickstarting speculation as to whether or not the poster and lineup were legitimate.

Despite probing from fans, artists listed on the poster remained tight-lipped, while the poster itself did not bear the name of any Australian or international promoter. However, Music Feeds discovered that the event was the work of IEG Presents, a group co-founded by promoter John Denison.

As well as return appearances from Common, Mos Def, and Aloe Blacc, Soulfest will see the Australian debuts of neo-soul legend D’Angelo and acclaimed R&B talent Anthony Hamilton, as well as Maxwell, Angie Stone, and Leela James, plus sets from Aussies Ngaiire, Nathaniel, and more.

There will also be local acts in each city, with the full lineup set to feature 20 live acts and DJs. Promoters have promised punters that a two-stage setup paired with a ten-hour timetable will ensure “there will be no scheduling conflicts, allowing ticket holders to view every artist on the bill.”

The event will be “a unique opportunity to see and hear some of the world’s finest artists in a relaxed atmosphere,” and will also feature quality cuisine, including “authentic New Orleans soulfood, a chilli cook-off, and themed bars.” Readers can head on over to the Soulfest website for more info.

Soulfest kicks off Saturday, 18th October at Sydney’s Victoria Park, before hitting up Yarra Park in Melbourne on Sunday, 19th October, concluding at The Riverstage in Brisbane on Saturday, 25th October. Tickets are priced at $139 for General Admission and $179 for VIP. More details below.
