Springtime (TFS, Dirty Three, The Necks) Share New Single Ahead Of National Tour

Springtime released their debut, self-titled album in November 2021. Not content with making one of the most impressive albums of the last 12 months, the supergroup of Australian avant-rockers have announced a new EP, titled Night Raver.

The 15-minute ‘The Names Of The Plague’ is the EP’s opening track and lead single. It’s out now. Night Raver will follow on Wednesday, 2nd March via Joyful Noise Recordings.

‘The Names Of The Plague’ is the group’s noisiest piece of work to date. It includes lyrics by English poet Ian Duhig, who co-wrote previous single ‘The Viaduct Love Suicide’.

Singer and guitarist Gareth Liddiard (The Drones, Tropical Fuck Storm) described ‘The Names Of the Plague’ as “a little inventory of all of the pandemic’s unexpected side effects. A list of crappy little outcomes that’ll probably linger and wind up being as much a problem in the future as long Covid.”

Along with Springtime’s core trio – Liddiard, drummer Jim White (Dirty Three, Cat Power) and pianist Chris Abrahams (The Necks) – ‘The Names of the Plague’ features The Drones’ Dan Luscombe on baritone guitar. Luscombe is also known for producing records by Courtney Barnett and Amyl & the Sniffers.
