Stay Calm, But My Chemical Romance Have Announced A New Zealand Show For Next Year

Our hearts were collectively broken when an Australian tour from reunited emo titans My Chemical Romance was cancelled back in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The legendary rockers, who reunited late last year after a six-year hiatus, were all set to headline this year’s Download Festival in Australia before the pandemic hit. They were subsequently forced to withdraw from the lineup, with Download organisers announcing that the festival was canned altogether as a result.

Australia was just one planned international tour stop Gerard Way and co. were unable to make due to the pandemic – with dates in Japan and New Zealand also cancelled.

While the band said they were postponing the performances at the time, they chose not to announce specific rescheduled dates. That was probably a good call, given it’s six months later and we’re still not much closer to being able to hold large-scale events.

However, the band have now announced a rescheduled show in New Zealand for next year, set to take place Saturday, 6th November 2021 in Western Springs, Auckland.

While it’s still feels like a biiiiit of a shot in the dark – who knows whether international touring will be back on the cards yet by November next year? – it does nevertheless bode well for us Aussies in the event it’s able to go ahead. Fingers crossed.
