Stella Donnelly Wins WAM Song Of The Year With ‘Boys Will Be Boys’

Stella Donnelly has won Western Australian Music’s (WAM) Song of the Year with ‘Boys Will Be Boys’.

The song, taken from Donnelly’s debut EP Thrush Metal, beat out songs by John Bennett, Coin Banks, Ziggy Ramo and more to take out the top prize of the night.

“Thank you so so much for my award for Song of the Year,” she said accepting the award in a video.

“I just want to thank the venues that have always given me shows, the people that book the shows, the amazing staff, and all of the other amazing musicians in Perth and WA.”

She also won the pop category with the same song while Coin Banks was victorious in the hip-hop category and Bennett took out country.

It’s been a massive 12 months for Donnelly. She just completed a successful co-headline tour with Alex The Astronaut and ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ narrowly missed out on triple j‘s Hottest 100, coming in at #102.
