Prepare yourself for a Big Bang Baby, because Stone Temple Pilots are primed to unveil their new frontman to the world.
The California rockers have bagged themselves a fresh singer after more than a year of searching — in the wake of their founding father Scott Weiland‘s tragic death from a drug overdose — and have been working with the mystery man on a brand new LP.
The news comes straight from the Pilots’ mouth, with bassist Robert DeLeo telling Rolling Stone that the group has been quietly plugging away in the studio with their new recruit.
“We’ve been working with someone — I don’t want to name names yet — and we’re making music,” DeLeo reveals.
“I don’t know if he’s well known or unknown; I don’t look at him as ‘well known.’ But we’re writing music and we’re hopefully looking at finishing a record and putting it out soon.”
STP fans almost had a coronary following rumours that Creed’s Scott Stapp had scored the big gig, but it turned out that Stapp was actually replacing Weiland in his little known supergroup sideproject Art Of Anarchy instead *Phew*.
Stone Temple Pilots held open auditions for their frontman role last year following the death of Weiland and the departure of super-sub Chester Bennington (who’s since also passed away under tragic circumstances), and copped thousands of applications.
