Stone Temple Pilots Pull Out Of Soundwave 2014

In a sudden and very surprising turn of events Stone Temple Pilots, who were set to tour Down Under as part of the imminent Soundwave 2014 festival in addition to a run of sideshows, have cancelled all upcoming engagements and have now been replaced by Aussies The Living End.

Moments ago, Australian touring mogul and Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah tweeted, “We’re about to announce an artist withdrawal as well as their replacement shortly. So much can happen in 4 hours..” much to the dismay and commiseration of his many fans and Twitter followers.

Soundwave have now announced that the recording of STP’s new album has gone past schedule and the availability of the production crew and gear — studio, engineers, producer — has led the band to cancel their upcoming Australian shows with Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington.

In the same announcement, organisers revealed that Melbourne-bred punk rockabillies The Living End have come in to save the day (get it?). Included with the press release was the “inner monologue” of the band’s frontman Chris Cheney:

“Oh crap there’s cobwebs on my amp and my guitar strings are rusty.

Shut up you idiot, quit you’re whining and get your shit together cause TLE are now playing Soundwave 2014.

So Stand up, Tune up, and get on that stage and Rock the fuckin’ house…… will do!

The Living End are proud to be a part of Soundwave 2014! BRING. IT. ON!!!!!”

Fans who purchased tickets for Stone Temple Pilots’ much-awaited Sydney and Melbourne Sidewaves can receive refunds from the point of purchase.
