Re-vamped Sydney venue ‘Since I Left You’, that is SILY, is doing its part for the revitalisation of the city’s live music scene, hosting a string of acoustic, Sunday live music sessions.
Held monthly, the SILY sessions are held on The Garden Stage in the venue’s heritage-listed courtyard, and showcase a whole host of talented local artists, across multiple genres. The intimate setting – the bar being nestled within Sydney’s CBD – lends itself to sets that are stripped back, personal and creative.
Having just celebrated its 6th birthday, SILY have upped the anti in the live entertainment department of late, with regular events like trivia Tuesdays, more live music on Thursday evenings and a Hip Hop Brunch which is set to include bottomless cocktails, lunch and boozy hip-hop karaoke.
With an Avalanches-inspired name and murals courtesy of local hip hop legend Jimmy Nice (of Spit Syndicate) it’s clear music has always been apart of the SILY lifeblood.
Despite the stranglehold lockout laws might still have on Sydney’s culture and arts scene, SILY founder Nick White is determined to keep the party going. “When I decided to freshen up the bar for its 6th birthday, my goal was to inject as much of myself into the space as possible,” he says. “I suppose it’s a coming of age, but really, it’s an immaturing. After all, I’m still a big kid at heart. Let’s get SILY!”
The next SILY session will take place this Sunday, June 18 and will feature local Sydney muso Kieran Morris and Queensland singer-songwriters Bri Green. Tickets for SILY sessions and the Hip Hop Brunch are on sale, here.
