It appears that Sydney’s preeminent beats and bass man Dizz1 has been working with Roots Manuva on the London artist’s upcoming album.
In an interview with Triple J, Dizz1 confirmed the collaboration came about thanks to his hooking up with Roots Manuva’s ‘old mate’ Spikey T.
Dizz1 said, “He came over to my house for a listening session which ended up turning into me plugging in a mic and him singing. He was just singing a chorus over this beat and he was like, ‘Man, I can hear Rodney (Roots Manuva) all over this beat!’ I told him I wrote it with him in mind as the vocalist and he said ‘well let me shoot it through to him’ and I sort of laughed and thought he was joking. Within half an hour I got a reply and a scratch track back from him over the internet!”
The resulting track is Here We Go Again, which is set to be included on Roots Manuva’s new album 4ever Revolution, expected to be released in September. The new LP marks the follow-up to his 2010 album, Duppy Writer, while Dizz1, real name Dave Norris, has been promoting the Roots Manuva collaboration, a coup for him, on his Twitter.
