The 1975 Are Not Breaking Up, Just Starting A “New Chapter”

The last three days have been an emotional ride for fans of The 1975. The band posted cryptic cartoons and disappeared from social media, causing widespread panic that they were on the verge of announcing a break-up. But, after reappearing yesterday with a pink facelift, the UK pop rockers have now revealed more details about what their little stunt was all about.

The 1975’s frontman, Matt Healy, has penned an open letter to fans, explaining that the band’s disappearing act was all about starting a “new chapter”, which will begin with the release of their new full-length LP.

“Our new record signifies the start of a new world for us”, he writes, “A more colourful world, a less colourful world.”

Healy also reports that the band will begin touring again in November, 2015. However, he’s also hinted at the tour taking in much smaller, more intimate venues than usual, stating, “The best way to start is the way we did before – in venues we have loved and in places that feel intimate enough to do a proper new show, with people who really want to be there or need to be there in some extreme cases…

“Due to the size of the venues that we feel are appropriate for this particular tour and taking into consideration the humbling dedication that I have felt from a lot of our fans I predict that only the most dedicated will end up with tickets,” he continues. “This can only be remedied by our reciprocated dedication to playing more and more shows.”

“I’ll see you soon with more music and drama,” he concludes mysteriously. “And you’ve known the title all along.”

After yesterday’s pastel pink pimp-out on all of their social media pages, The 1975 also teased what appears to be the artwork for their second album, also in pink. Could this be the enigmatic title that we’ve “known all along”?

The 1975 also told Music Feeds back in January that they’d be releasing their second album in “2016, definitely, February to April”, with new music to be released later this year.
