The Amity Affliction have made their relationship with drummer Joe Longobardi Facebook official.
The band took to the social media site today to announce that the beatman — who also plays in American melodic hardcore band Defeater — had permanently joined their ranks, and post a new promo shot of the revamped lineup.
“We’re over the moon that we can finally announce our long time friend Joe Longobardi will be joining Amity on a full time basis,” the band write.
“We’ve been speaking with Joe for a long, long time, however his touring commitments with Defeater meant that he couldn’t join as soon as we wanted him to.
“Fast forward to recording, Joe came into the studio and absolutely smashed it, and we had a fucking amazing time with him there,” their statement continues. “We offered him the spot again, and lucky for us he said yes.
“We’ve been wanting to spill the beans for ages now because we are so so psyched that he’s with us now moving forward. Give him a warm welcome please; in his own words, let’s fucking GO.”
Longobardi will replace Ryan Burt, who exited the band earlier this years to focus on his health, after ten years of manning the pots n’ pans for Amity.
You can give Longobardi a warm welcome IRL when you catch the new-look Amity Affliction lineup performing live at Download Festival when it hits Melbourne and Sydney next March.
Until then, you can inspect his skills with a pair of drumsticks in the video below.
