Mark your diaries and dust off your silver jumpsuits, because The Darkness have announced they’ll be returning to Australian shores in March next year to bring their brand of sonic extravagance, embracing the epic antics of 70s rock to the flamboyant excess of 80s glam to stages across the country.
The band will be bringing songs from their back catalogue, including hits like ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’, ‘Get Your Hands Off My Woman’ and ‘Love Is Only A Feeling’ as well as cuts from their forthcoming sixth studio album Easter Is Cancelled, which is slated for release in October.
Hell yeah.
It’ll be the first time The Darkness have been in Australia since 2017, when they were here as part of Groovin The Moo festival and a string of accompanying sideshows. The band have already given us a taste of the new tunes, releasing ‘Rock and Roll Deserves to Die’, the first single from Easter Is Cancelled, earlier this month. Today they’ve also released mini-rock opera/ new single Heart Explodes, also taken from the forthcoming album.
Check out tour dates and watch the clip for ‘Rock and Roll Deserves to Die’ below. Tickets are on sale Thursday, 22nd August, but pre-sales begin on Tuesday, 20th August. You can sign up to The Darkness mailing list to get early access here.
