The Delta Riggs are about to embark on their second national tour of the year, this time with new music in tow, and in anticipation of the release of their third studio LP.
Having released the first track from the album earlier this month – a dreamy cut called Surgery Of Love – the Melbourne band have now revealed that the record will feature a fresh collaboration with Sydney outfit Sticky Fingers.
In an interview with Music Feeds, singer Elliott Hammond firstly hinted at the fact, before coming clean with details of the collab.
“I can give you a hint,” teased Hammond. “There is a collaboration on the record with a Sydney band that we’re very, very chummy with. It features the singer and the bass player from said band. Is that too cryptic?
“In short, you might hear a collaboration with Sticky Fingers on that record,” he finally revealed.
The process of putting together the collaboration was strenuous in spite of the fact that the two bands have been good friends for a number of years. This was in part because by the time it became a realistic possibility, both groups were already pretty busy on their own records.
“It was just one night we were hanging out and said ‘you guys should get in on this track’,” said Hammond. “By the time we got around to it they were doing their album in Thailand and they had a studio there, and we were doing ours at The Grove – so we were sending session files back and forth to each other. So we weren’t in the studio for some of it and then the second half I met up with Dylan [Frost] at the Sticky studio and we finished it off. So it was a two part process.”
The Delta Riggs national tour kicks off this Friday at the Fat Controller in Adelaide. Catch all the tour details below and stay tuned for our full interview with Elliott Hammond, up soon.
