The Gaslight Anthem are back with a strong reminder of why they are one of the most loved bands around. Simply named ’45’ the clip also comes with an insightful ‘Making of…’ doco.
Off the yet-to-be-released album Handwritten, it is set for release July 27 through Universal. This is the first new material from the band since 2010’s American Slang.
’45’ is described as being a deeply biographical song close to frontman Brian Fallon’s heart – a motif carried throughout the whole album, which almost never happened, as he explains in a short interview featured in the ‘Making of’ clip:
“This record was different, because when we started out, I didn’t know what was going to happen, because after American Slang and the 59 sound I thought, what am I going to do? Are there anymore Gaslight songs? It’s a scary thing that feeling when it hits you.” Brian explains that when they wrote ’45’, his confidence in the band instantly returned.
So check out the song that saved The Gaslight Anthem. Both the clip and the doco are beneath; both are well worth your time!
