The organisers of The Gum Ball, widely regarded as one of the last family-friendly two-day festivals left in Australia, have followed-up the announcement of their 10th Anniversary return in 2014 with a blazing lineup featuring the likes of Hoodoo Gurus, Jinja Safari, Wolf & Cub, and many more!
The Gum Ball is a unique and independent Aussie boutique festival experience, offering music, arts and great vibes in the scenic country surrounds of ‘Dashville’, in Lower Belford, taking place over two nights from Friday, 11th to Saturday 12th April 2014, during the school holidays.
Kicking off the lineup are Aus-rock royalty the Hoodoo Gurus, one the country’s most enduringly popular and successful rock acts, having crafted some of the nation’s most memorable and recognisable rock radio hits, and remaining a vital and highly entertaining live act.
An impressive and skilfully curated list of local and international talent follows, spanning multiple genres and audiences, including the cool neo-soul sounds of Ngaiire, the indie-psych stylings of Wolf & Cub, the eclectic Afro-pop of Jinja Safari, and the two-man blues of Swamp Thing.
“We’ve been through a lot in this time, a rollercoaster of passion, fatigue, joy and hindsight. In the end though, it’s about the people that come to Gum Ball,” said organiser Matt Johnston, who attributes the festival’s success to its family-friendly nature and laid-back atmosphere.
“People have become ‘festival experts’- they go to so many events they begin to realise what they want in their down time,” added Johnston. “In our experience people are seeking comfort, serenity and uncomplicated set-ups to help them enjoy good music, making for good times.”
Taking place over the first weekend of the April school holidays, organisers are looking to help families get away before the impending raucous of Easter begins. The remainder of The Gum Ball 2014’s lineup will be unveiled Friday, 24th January 2014. See the first lineup and all details below.
