The Jungle Giants have launched their comeback with both a brand-new single, ‘Hold My Hand’, and a national Australian tour in support of it. The new single was written and produced by the band’s frontman Sam Hales, who described the track in a press statement as “really important to [him]” given its personal subject matter – detailing both the end of his 10-year relationship and his recovery following a jet-ski accident that sidelined him for two months.
“These are all beautiful, beautiful, positive memories that changed me for the better,” said Hales. “It was just really hard to figure out a way to write about it, and figure out a way to define how I felt. This song really helped open up a lot of the writing for the album. All the songs I wrote before weren’t feeling real enough. Once I landed on ‘Hold My Hand’, a lot of things fell into place for me. I had this real emotional reaction to it.”
The Jungle Giants – ‘Hold My Hand’
To support the release of ‘Hold My Hand’, the band will embark on a national tour in April 2025. It is reportedly their only headlining tour of 2025, with the rest of the year dedicated to both completing and releasing their as-yet-untitled fifth studio album. Joining them as main support on all dates is Torres Strait singer-songwriter Sycco, still touring in support of her J Award-winning debut album Zorb. “Extended family and friends” are set to open the shows with DJ sets.
The band’s last new music came in 2023, in which they released ‘Trippin Up’ and the Renee-featuring ‘Rakata’. Both, along with ‘Hold My Hand’, are expected to appear on the band’s new album. Their last record, Love Signs, was released in July of 2021 and became their first-ever chart-topping album.
