The Killers Will “Definitely” Release Fourth Album In 2012

After taking a lengthy hiatus since 2010, the Killers have revealed that they have recorded several songs from what will be their new album (tentatively titled Battle Born), that will “definitely” be released this year.

Front man Brandon Flowers spoke with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe:

“There definitely will be a Killers record coming out in 2012, it’s just whether it’s in summer time or the winter time, that’s up for debate. We’re just kind of in the factory, working. We’ve written a lot of songs, but they aren’t completely finished. I think the consensus within the band is to take those things that we’ve done well and really hone in on that…We don’t want to make Hot Fuss 2 or Sam’s Town 2, or Day & Age 2”.

He also confirmed one song title, “There’s one track called ‘Battle Born’, it’s definitely a pillar of the record”.

The follow-up to 2008′s Day & Age, was first discussed on UK radio station XFM in May last year, when drummer Ronnie Vannucci explained that the Las Vegas four-piece were in the process of writing the new album.

“Tuesday [17 May 2011] I think we’ll start doing some writing again. We have piles of songs we want to show each other. We’re going to get back in that room and start working.”

The Killers released a Christmas-themed spaghetti western music video, set in old Las Vegas at the end of last year. The song was released on on iTunes, with all proceeds donated to the Product Red campaign and the fight against AIDS in Africa.
