The Strokes ended the decade with a massive show in New York at the Barclays Centre, and the gig saw the release of some massive news.
We already knew that Julian Casablancas and co. had a new album in the works, but at the show he confirmed that it will definitely be released in 2020.
The new record will be the first from The Strokes since Comedown Machine in 2013.
While confirming the news, Casablancas appeared to diss the album before that, 2011’s Angles.
A group of fans began chanting “Angles! Angles! Angles!”
“I don’t wanna do a song from Angles…” Casablancas responded, via Stereogum.
“Yeah, we’ve got a new album coming out soon!” he continued.
“2020, here we come. The 2010s, whatever the fuck they’re called, we took ’em off. And now we’ve been unfrozen and we’re back.
“If you really love someone, you’ll be frozen with them. You know what? I don’t know what I say generally, and I ramble a lot, but I love you guys, and it’s a real honor to share the stage and this night with you guys.”
After dropping the news, The Strokes then debuted a brand new song titled ‘Ode To The Mets’.
