Triple J Has Released Some Very Juicy Stats Regarding This Year’s Hottest 100

Update: Winner of the triple J Hottest 100 of 2018 has been announced

Update: Hottest 100 of 2018 has begun – Live updates are here

Triple J‘s 2018 Hottest 100 is literally just around the corner with only two sleeps until we find out which song was the favourite of listeners across the world, and now the station has released some interesting statistics about this year’s countdown – now the votes have been tallied.

First of all, we hope you froth Australian music because 65 Aussie tracks have made the countdown. This just misses out on the record for most Aussie songs in a countdown, which is currently held by 2016’s countdown with 66.

21 artists are making their very first appearance in the countdown, with some of those likely being artists like Dean Lewis and Travis Scott

Unearthed is getting a lot of love this year, with five of the tracks making the countdown being uploaded to Unearthed this year (looking at you G Flip). On top of that, 31 artists on their countdown made their Triple J debut via Unearthed.

On top of that, interestingly 2 artists celebrate back-to-back spots in the countdown, and 8 artists have made the hat-trick with 2018 being their third consecutive appearance in the Hottest 100 (hey Amy Shark).

The Hottest 100 airs at midday AEDT on Sunday, 27th January, and if you want some pretty decent predictions, check out 100 Warm Tunas and The Bean Counter’s 100 – who have both pegged the same two tracks to lead the pack.
