Here Are Triple J’s Most Played Artists Of 2015

Anyone who listens to triple j on the reg would probably be able to tell you this anyway, but Tame Impala, Florence + The Machine and Courtney Barnett were among the station’s most-played artists of 2015.

After meticulously crunching the numbers, jjj has revealed that Kevin Parker and his Perth-bred psych-poppers received the highest rotation on their flagship station over the past 12 months, followed by The Wombats, Florence + The Machine, Hermitude and Courtney Barnett.

Making the announcement via ABC online, the station cooed that their top 20 list was “incredibly diverse, from British indie rock and Scottish synthpop to dreamy Canadian electro”.

“But if there’s one consistent thread,” they said, “It’s that we love Australian music”.

Interestingly, no metal bands received high enough rotation to make the cut, with the heaviest act to feature on the list being London indie rockers, Wolf Alice.

It was a similar story over at Double J, where Blur, Laura Marling, Beck, Darren Hanlon and The Chemical Brothers rounded out the top five most-played artists of 2015, topping a super-diverse list that also featured Death Cab For Cutie, Bjork and Father John Misty.

Finally, the triple j Unearthed top 5 was dominated by Sydney ‘Future Folk’ singer Gordi, electronic duo Vallis Alps, indie-popper Le Pie, post-punks Mangelwurzel and indie rockers Tired Lion.

For the record, Justin Bieber did not feature in any of the lists, which we can’t imagine bodes well for his #Bieber4Hottest100 aspirations.

Voting in the annual triple j Hottest 100 is now open (and if we had to bet on an outcome, it would be that every one of the artists on the station’s most-played list makes it in there at least once).
