UPDATE: 23/10/16: Frank Iero has dropped a new song ‘Oceans’ off his forthcoming LP with The Patience to thank fans for their support following the Sydney crash.

UPDATE 18/10/16: Frnkiero andthe Patience have cancelled all of their remaining 2016 tour dates due to severe injuries suffered in the Sydney crash.

ORIGINAL STORY: My Chemical Romance have given fans an update on Frank Iero his band The Patience, who were involved in a nasty crash during their Australian tour this week.

My Chem took to Twitter to confirm that their former guitarist got “banged up pretty badly” but is “physically OK” after his tour van was rammed by a bus in Sydney’s CBD on Thursday, leading to the forced cancellation of his band’s show at The Metro.

However, according to MCR, two of Iero’s Patience bandmates are currently undergoing surgery in Sydney as a result of serious injuries they suffered during the accident.

“Frank Iero’s band, Frank Iero And The Patience, were unloading their van in Sydney, Australia when they were hit by a bus. 2 members of the band are undergoing surgery. Frank is banged up pretty badly but is physically OK,” My Chem revealed.

“We are sending out our love and wishes for a speedy recovery to his band mates, and to Frank, and we thank all of you for your kind wishes.”

Iero himself took to Twitter shortly after the incident to thank fans for their support and inform them that he was “still in a state of shock”. He and another man were unloading equipment from the rear of the van at the time of the crash.

According to the official police report, two men – aged 35 and 42 – who were standing at the rear of the van suffered serious leg injuries as a result of the crash and – as per My Chem’s update – it sounds like these men were two of Iero’s bandmates, more than likely lead guitarist Evan Nestor and drummer Matt Olsson, the latter of whom just posted the following on Instagram:

At least it sounds like everyone’s OK. Iero himself tweeted yesterday that they were all in a stable condition:

And we also know bassist Alex Grippo was not involved because he’s tweeted as much:

Another 29-year-old man escaped serious injury and was treated at the scene for cuts and bruises, while the driver of the van – a 33-year-old woman – was uninjured, with the driver of the bus taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Frontman Gerard Way has also shared his own heartfelt message after first hearing news of accident, saying: “I awoke to some very upsetting, sad, and serious news. Heartbroken. I know just as much as all of you but I hope the continued outpouring of love, well wishes and support help.

“Make sure to hug the ones you care about. Sending all of my love and thoughts to Frank and the boys.”
