Tyler, the Creator Talks About New Album In May 2012

Tyler, The Creator, leader of the Los Angeles based hip hop collective OFWGKTA has revealed that he has begun work on his third studio album, titled, Wolf. The album was first hinted at on the title track of his first release Bastard, you can hear the Doctor say “this is the first of three sessions…”.

In an interview with SPIN, Tyler revealed that the new album will have him move away from the dark side seen on his sophomore album Goblin, and instead look to create an album that is focused on what he’s experienced since his rise to fame and touring with Odd Future; his change in life from being young, broke and constantly questioning his state of mind.

“Talking about rape and cutting bodies up, it just doesn’t interest me anymore.

What interests me is making weird hippie music for people to get high to. With Wolf, I’ll brag a little more, talk about money and buying shit. But not like any other rapper, I’ll be a smart-ass about it. Now it’s just girls throwing themselves at me and shit, but I got a girl back home. People who want the first album again, I can’t do that. I was 18, broke as fuck. On my third album, I have money and I’m hanging out with my idols. I can’t rap about the same shit.”

He also has hinted about trying some new things out, taking some elements from his influences, which he says doesn’t always include rapping, and possibly forming a band.

“I wanna make the music I actually get all my influence from. I don’t know how, but I’m gonna try shit like this out. I’m gonna make a band or something.”

Wolf is scheduled for release in May 2012.

You can see Odd Future tour Australia, for the second time in 12 months, when they appear on the Big day Out 2012 line-up in January next year.
