Viagra Boys have formally announced their return to Australia, with a three-date east-coast tour set for November 2024. It will mark the band’s second visit overall, following their maiden voyage in December 2019 as part of that year’s Meredith Music Festival line-up. Earlier in 2024, the band were announced on the line-up for this year’s Splendour In The Grass festival. It was ultimately cancelled just weeks later, and although several acts from the festival announced July tours – such as girl in red, Lizzy McAlpine and Baby Gravy – Viagra Boys were not among them.
Last week, the band shared a comedic video to their social media which sees frontman Sebastian Murphy get a call inside an office building about organising a visit to Australia. He defers the job to drummer Tor Sjödén, who then googles Austria on his computer. “You’ve been complaining, so we put Tor on the job to sort Australia out by next week or he’s getting fired,” the caption read.
Viagra Boys – ‘Troglodyte’
The Swedish post-punk/dance-punk band released their third album, Cave World, in July 2022. A deluxe edition of the record followed in January 2023. The band have toured extensively in support of the album since then, including appearances at Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds and tours supporting Queens Of The Stone Age, System Of A Down and fellow Swedes The Hives.
