Watch Anthrax Tackle An Acoustic Cover Of Pink Floyd’s ‘Comfortably Numb’

For a band who have been around for more than four decades like Anthrax, ‘firsts’ must be a pretty rare thing. The band have taken to SiriusXM‘s Opie Radio to do just that, dropping an acoustic performance of Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb, which they had never done to an audience before.

To get the job done, the band needed four acoustic guitars. We guess when there’s no distortion, you need to beef it up somehow. Vocalist Joey Belladonna stays true to his power-metal vocal stylings, belting his way through the rendition with enough vibrato to kill a small horse.

After the radio performance, the band took the track to the stage. The Comfortably Numb rendition reportedly made its way into the setlist for their show in Brooklyn the following night, so we’re guessing the band are pretty damn happy with how it came together on air.

Anthrax are currently touring stateside with Slayer and Death Angel, so this is probably not the last you’ll hear about the run. Watch their acoustic cover of Comfortably Numb, below.
