Watch Ball Park Music Win Splendour With Their ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Cover

This year’s Splendour In The Grass was full of highlights, and everyone has their own favourite moments. That said, if your festival highlight was anything besides when Ball Park Music played Bohemian Rhapsody, you’re wrong. The Brisbane five-piece’s take on the Queen classic was epic, just see for yourself in the video below.

The quintet’s Splendour performance was this week’s pick for Triple J‘s Live at the Wireless. “A year ago we joked about playing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody at Splendour In The Grass,” the band recounted, as they live tweeted the broadcast. “Huge goosebumps hearing this again! That crowd! Such an incredible moment How did we pull this shit off?”

In the lead-up to their Splendour performance, the band rehearsed the song at different gigs on their national tour. Of course, there was no telling just how explosive the Splendour performance would go on to be, nor that the band would bring the whole shebang to a close with the thunder of a mighty gong, which they brought just for the rendition.

As we noted in our round-up of Everything You Should Have Seen At Splendour In The Grass 2014, Ball Park Music weren’t the only ones to do the fandango at Splendour this year. Yacht Club DJs also got the crowd headbanging in true Wayne’s World style with their own sterling cover of the A Night at the Opera cut.

We loved Childish Gambino, Hell Fuck Yeah’d along with Violent Soho, and couldn’t get over Outkast, but between a cameo from Bender and Bohemian Rhapsody, Ball Park Music had everything we were looking for in a Splendour set. Listen to the whole thing over at Triple J or check out the epic footage below. Just wait till it gets to that bit. You know, THAT bit.
