Courtney Barnett has shared a gorgeously cinematic new video clip to accompany her single, ‘Before You Gotta Go’.
The single will feature on the Melbourne indie-rocker’s third record, Things Take Time, Take Time, which is due to land via Barnett’s label Milk! Records on Friday, 12th November.
The clip, directed by Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore, features Barnett wandering through a variety of landscapes presumedly close to a small coastal area. Armed with an old-school tape-recorder, the shifting perspective of the clip adds a touch of surreal-ness to the focused task.
Dalimore touched on the working relationship between the pair, noting Barnett’s idea for the shoot.
“I love how brilliantly simple Courtney’s idea was, it brought real joy shooting part of it together, just me, her and my DOP with the other part being two long days directing over zoom across the Tasman Sea.
“I watch it now and feel that sense of peace, that potent calm you can only get immersed in the beauty of nature.”
It follows the release of the record’s first single, ‘Rae Street’, which Barnett recently performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in what was her sixth appearance on the program.
