It hasn’t even been a week since Foo Fighters released ‘Waiting On A War’, and already they’ve gifted us with a clip to accompany the track, which is set to feature on their forthcoming record, Medicine At Midnight.
The clip brings to life the sentiments of the single, which was inspired by a conversation Dave Grohl had with his 11 year old daughter, Harper.
“Last fall, as I was driving my daughter to school, she turned to me and asked, ‘Daddy, is there going to be a war?’ My heart sank as I realised that she was now living under the same dark cloud that I had felt 40 years ago. As a child growing up in the suburbs of Washington DC, I was always afraid of war.”
“My youth was spent under the dark cloud of a hopeless future. This song was written for my daughter, Harper, who deserves a future, just as every child does.”
Directed by Paola Kudacki, who directed the clip for one of the band’s previous singles ‘Shame Shame’, the video juxtaposes clips of carefree teens with post-apocalyptic ones; a setting brought on by the hand of greedy, faceless politicians. As the tempo of the song increases, so too does the intensity of the clip, making for a spine-tinglingly cinematic depiction.
