Gorillaz are prepping for a massive week, with the release of their sixth studio album The Now Now happening this Friday. And they’ve just treated us to a special performance of the record in its entirety.
The audio-visual performance went down live in Tokyo in front of an audience and was shared via Boiler Room. But you’ll have to be quick to watch – it’s only staying up for a few more hours, so it’ll likely be gone before you wake up tomorrow morning.
The Now Now is the follow-up to 2017’s Humanz, the first Gorillaz album since 2010. On top of that, it’s been a staggering eight years since the group last toured Australia, so let’s hope this burst of prolificness from Albarn and co. inspires them to head down under where they have been sorely missed to say the least.
We’ve actually already heard a decent chunk of The Now Now in the past few weeks. Every Friday a new single has been released, starting with ‘Lake Zurich’ and the George Benson-featuring ‘Humility’ at the end of May. In the weeks since then, we’ve heard ‘Sorcererz’, ‘Fire Flies’ and the Snoop Dogg-featuring ‘Hollywood’.
Watch the full Boiler Room set below while you still can. The Now Now is out Friday, 29th June.
