WATCH: Here’s What Went Down At The Cure’s First ‘Disintegration’ 30th Anniversary Gig At Vivid Sydney

Sydney copped a world first on Friday night, with The Cure opening their  Vivid LIVE 2019 residency at the Sydney Opera House with their first ever Disintegration 30th anniversary show.

As expected, the band’s set came packing all the classics, plus some deep cuts and a bunch of live debuts.

Robert Smith et. al. opened the night by playing Disintegration in full, marking the first performances of the LP’s two closing tracks — ‘Homesick’ and ‘Untitled’ — in 17 years.

They also treated fans to an eight-song encore, which included the live debuts of multiple B-side tracks including ‘No Heart’, ‘Esten’, ‘Babble’, ‘Fear of Ghosts, ‘Out of Mind’, ‘Delirious Night’ plus their cover of Wendy Waldman’s ‘Pirate Ships’.

The second show happened last night, and for Cure fans around the rest of Australia and the world the FOMO has been REAL.

But that’s OK because the band has promised to live stream their final Vivid show this Thursday, 30th May.
