Coachella Weekend 2 has unsurprisingly become a giant love-fest for departed musical legend Prince, and rightly so.
During his time on this earth, The Purple One influenced just about every genre of music there is. He’s almost without a doubt your favourite guitarist’s favourite guitarist.
And after he passed away suddenly at the age of 57 last week – hardly more than a day before weekend 2 of Coachella was set to get underway – it’s unsurprising that many of the festival’s artists have been using their performances to honour the fallen musical genius.
Sufjan Stevens teamed up with Gallant for a rendition of Purple Rain, while headliners LCD Soundsystem honoured His Purpleness with a cover of Controversy.
Joey Bada$$ also valed the heck out of Prince, jamming out to 1999 in front of that iconic symbol, while Diplo, Skrillex and Jack Ü flashed it during their set as well.
Ellie Goulding also wrapped her pipes around When Doves Cry during her set at the festival.
And weekend 2 is far from over, so we reckon it would be safe to expect the Prince lovin’ to keep rolling on.
