LCD Soundsystem To Reunite At Coachella 2016: Report

UPDATE 05/01/16: LCD Soundsystem have been announced on the 2016 Coachella lineup.

James Murphy and his dance-rockin’ LCD Soundsystem mates are said to be regrouping to perform at the 2016 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, which is pretty much the best news LCD fans have heard all year.

According to The New York Times, a secret source has confirmed that LCD are getting the band back together five years since their last album and full tour. A spokesman for LCD Soundsystem has declined to comment on the news.

LCD are also understood to be planning a reunion tour for 2016, according to Consequence Of Sound.

LCD Soundsystem performed their farewell show at Madison Square Garden in 2011, which was later released in 2012 as a brilliant documentary film called Shut Up and Play the Hits.

Rumours of an LCD comeback escalated on Christmas Eve this year, when the band released a “depressing” Christmas song called Christmas Will Break Your Heart, which can be streamed over at the LCD Soundsystem website.

Aside from LCD, Coachella 2016 is also rumoured to feature a headlining reunion show from rockers Guns N’ Roses, who multiple sources have confirmed will be making an appearance at the festival before embarking on a stadium tour.

The New York Times has backed up the reports of GNR’s appearance by citing “a person with direct knowledge of [Coachella’s] plans, who was not authorized to discuss it publicly”.

Coachella is expected to make its first 2016 lineup announcement early next week, so it probably won’t be long until we can lock in LCD Soundsystem and Guns N’ Roses once and for all.
