Lou Reed and Metallica have performed the song Iced Honey from their recent collaboration album Lulu, live for the first time on Jools Holland this morning. They also did a version of The Velvet Undergrounds classic song White Light/White Heat. You can view both videos below.
Lulu is named and based after the classic Frank Wedekind’s femme fatale “Lulu” plays Earth Spirit and Pandora’s Box, which tell a story of a young abused dancer’s life and relationships and are now collectively known as the Lulu Plays. Since their publication in the early 1900s, the plays have been the inspiration for a silent film Pandora’s Box, in 1929, an opera, and countless other creative endeavours.
