Watch: Oh Mercy – ‘Pilgrim’s Blues’

Melbourne pop/rockers Oh Mercy have dropped the video for the second single from their new album Deep Heat – the ‘relentless’ Pilgrim’s Blues.

Described as “a menacing tale of love, lust and revenge”, the track was written by frontman Alexander Gow and Burke Reid, alongside hammond playing by Steve Berlin from Los Lobos (that band behind La Bamba).

“I asked Burke if he thought the album was in need of a song of any particular tempo,” Gow said. He thought we could use a fast one and a slower one. Pilgrim’s Blues is the fast one, you can do the Dancing in the Dark dance to it.”

When it came to the clip, the boys deliberately took the song into an “animated mind field”, working with video artist Diagram over a three-week period to create the unique video. You can check it out at the bottom of the page.

Oh Mercy will be hitting the road as support act for The Waterboys later this month. They’ll also play a handful of shows with Regular John across the East Coast, and play the St. Kilda Festival in Melbourne and Bleech Festival on the Gold Coast.
