On the eve of Aus Music Month, Canberran electro house duo Peking Duk flew north for triple j‘s Like A Version, taking on Kylie Minogue‘s Can Get You Out Of My Head.
Helped out by vocalist Olivia McCarthy, aka Joy, and a string quartet from the Sydney Chamber Orchestra, the duo of Adam Hyde and Ruben Styles brought Kylie’s soaring single down to earth, soaking it synths and creating the room for McCarthy to emphasise the song’s obsessive desperation.
The local indie electro scene is shining brightly on Kylie at the moment. The pop star was tapped by Flight Facilities to record an a cappella reprise of 2010 single Crave You for recently released debut album Down To Earth.
If you’re keen to catch Peking Duk over the summer, the duo will play as part of Field Day 2015 and Beyond The Valley 2014. You can check out Peking Duk cover Kylie Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, along with their original track Take Me Over, below.
