Watch Sir Mix-A-Lot Perform ‘Baby Got Back’ With An Orchestra

If you pretend like you don’t know every single word to Sir Mix-A-Lot‘s Grammy Award-winning 1992 classic Baby Got Back, then it’s highly likely that you’re not a trustworthy human being. If this viral-bound vid is anything to go by, even classical music geeks get down with some Sir Mix-A-Lot.

Now in its third year, Seattle Symphony’s Sonic Evolution project has become a launchpad for some of the city’s most creative composers and musicians. Each year they commission world-class composers to write original orchestral compositions inspired by the bands and artists of Seattle.

In addition to writing a brand new composition inspired by Seattle’s own Sir Mix-A-Lot, composer Gabriel Prokofiev — grandson of legendary 20th Century composer Sergei Prokofiev — composed orchestral arrangements of two of the rapper’s most famous hits, including this timeless classic.
