Last month, Kylie Minogue returned with ‘Say Something’, the lead single from forthcoming album Disco. It’s an ethereal, expectedly disco-tinged bop that’s retains Minogue’s signature pop flair while also making a fairly dramatic departure from the country stylings of her previous record, 2018’s Golden.
Now, Australia’s queen of pop has shared a shimmery, spacey new video to accompany the track that sees our Kylie dance in an array of glitter-drenched get-ups while surrounded by a celestial backdrop. The video was directed by Sophie Muller, who was responsible for the music videos to a handful of Golden cuts, including ‘Dancing’ and its title track.
Premiering the track on BBC Radio 2, Minogue said, “It’s like this gigantic song and yet it’s very heartfelt at the same time. When you see the video it’s like a galactic disco.”
“This song is about all of our eternal quest for love and the searching and knowing that there’s something or someone out there that you can relate to and makes you a better person,” she added.
As one might expect, Minogue’s forthcoming album will draw heavily on disco influences.
“I loved disco as an eight-year-old, so it’s been a long love affair,” she told GQ Magazine earlier this year when discussing the album. “I’m loving the modern interpretations of the genre now.”
Watch the video for ‘Say Something’ below. Disco arrives Friday, 6th November.
