SAY IT AIN’T SO! Alternative rock royalty Weezer are bringing one hell of a nostalgia-fuelled singalong to Australia in 2027, announcing a massive arena tour with fellow ’90s and noughties icons Third Eye Blind and Fountains Of Wayne.
Dubbed Weezer: The Gathering, the six-date Australia and New Zealand run will mark Weezer’s first full Australian headline sets in 14 years, with the band returning to our shores in February and March for five enormous shows across Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
‘Weezer – C.E.O.’
And with Semi-Charmed Life, Jumper and Stacy’s Mom also potentially on the menu, the combined setlist is shaping up to be an absolute fever dream for anyone who grew up worshipping at the altar of ’90s alternative rock and early-2000s power pop.
The Australian leg will kick off at Perth’s RAC Arena on Wednesday, 24th February, before heading to Adelaide’s AEC Arena on Friday, 26th February and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Sunday, 28th February.
Sydney’s Afterpay Arena will host the tour on Tuesday, 2nd March, before the Aussie dates wrap up at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Thursday, 4th March.
The bands will then head across the Tasman for a final show at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Sunday, 7th March, marking the first-ever New Zealand performances for both Third Eye Blind and Fountains Of Wayne.
While Weezer last visited Australia as part of Good Things Festival in 2025, the upcoming tour will mark their first full headline sets Down Under since 2013.
And it’s been an even longer wait for their special guests.
Third Eye Blind will be returning to Australia for the first time since 2011, while Fountains Of Wayne haven’t performed on our shores since 1999.
Yes, you read that correctly. NINETEEN NINETY-NINE.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1992, Weezer burst onto the alternative rock scene with their self-titled 1994 debut, affectionately known as the Blue Album, delivering timeless anthems including Buddy Holly, Say It Ain’t So and Undone – The Sweater Song.
Over the following decades, Rivers Cuomo and co. continued to cement their place in alternative rock history with hits like Hash Pipe, El Scorcho, Island In The Sun and Beverly Hills, selling more than 35 million records worldwide.
Their ever-evolving discography now spans 20 studio albums, including their latest 2026 release, Weezer (Gold), which sees the band taking a tongue-in-cheek look at ageing, legacy and life as a long-running rock outfit.
Meanwhile, San Francisco alt-rock favourites Third Eye Blind will be bringing their own treasure trove of late-’90s radio classics to the party.
The band’s 1997 self-titled debut spawned enduring hits Semi-Charmed Life, Jumper and How’s It Going To Be, establishing them as one of the era’s defining alternative rock acts.
And rounding out this gloriously nostalgic triple bill are power-pop legends Fountains Of Wayne, whose 2003 smash Stacy’s Mom remains one of the most instantly recognisable earworms of the noughties.
After unofficially disbanding in 2013, the band returned to live performances in 2025 following the tragic passing of co-founder Adam Schlesinger in 2020.
Their upcoming Aussie dates will mark their first performances here in almost three decades.
With three generations of alternative rock anthems packed into one bill, Weezer: The Gathering is shaping up to be one of the biggest nostalgia trips of 2027.
