Woman Charged Over Lansdowne Hotel Fire

Police have charged a woman believed to be at the centre of Friday’s fire on the third level of well-known Sydney music venue The Lansdowne Hotel.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that a 23-year-old woman was arrested on Monday following an investigation by local detectives.

Police allege that the blaze was lit after the woman got into a dispute with other tenants at the venue. She was charged with damaging property by fire and threatening to destroy or damage another person’s property.

The woman was granted conditional bail and will face Downing Centre Local Court on February 6.

The fire broke out around 8am on Friday morning and caused major traffic delays in and around City Road in Chippendale. Despite reports of some patrons being trapped, all patrons were accounted for and no one was injured in the blaze.
