Woodford Folk Festival has dug deep into the human psyche to decide on the theme for this year’s NYE event. Revealing the official poster and theme today, the organisers have settled on “Facing our fears away.” Punters are invited to confront their inner monsters and take them on head-first to expose them for what they really are––the manifestation of our fears. Deep, right?
Festival Director Bill Hauritz has explained that the team looked to the utmost of moral compasses for inspiration: Mahatma Ghandi, who once declared “The only devils in this world are those running around in our own hearts, and that is where all our battles should be fought.” The theme will affect more than just the event poster, with monsters expected to be brought to life, directly from the minds of children, unleashed for the “Monster Parade” at the festival.
Every year, the Woodford Folk Festival event poster becomes an important piece of memorabilia for those who attend the festival, as well as those who simply appreciate art and culture. This year’s poster, designed by Gavin Ryan, has been described as “the best yet” by Woodford’s General Manager Amanda Jackes, who adds:
“Gavin has really excelled himself this year, we’ve always been happy with the posters he’s done as the sales of them reflect, but we expect this year’s poster to be a sell-out.”
Posters can be purchased from the festival’s official website. The official programme will launch in mid-October.
