Melbourne’s World’s End Press have unleashed another weird and compelling music video into the stratosphere this time for the band’s new single Drag Me Home. The Luci Schroder-directed clip flies the flag for the Australian, suburban club scene, following one night in the lives of an array of quirky clubbers looking for connection.
The video stars characters everyone can connect with; from the redhead with a broken arm, patriotically jerking off under an Australian flag and the fishnet-clad contortionist pouring tomato sauce on a pie with her feet to the two curly-haired guys taking in a quick pre-discothèque sponge bath. All culminating in a major dance off at the club. We’re warning you, this one might be NSFW.
Drag Me Home is taken from World’s End Press’ debut self-titled album, produced by Tim Goldsworthy (LCD Soundsystem, Cut Copy, Massive Attack) at Rockfield Studios in Wales and Bristol’s Massive Studio.
Goldsworthy encouraged the band to record as live as possible, rather than rely on sequencing or programming, and most of the recordings were cut to analogue tape. The result is a danceable blend of influences including disco, punk and Jamaican lovers rock. And the debut offering is already making waves in suburban clubs across the country.
