To celebrate his recent single One For The City, the latest cut to be taken from his ARIA Award-nominated fourth album, Cinematic, Illy is giving one lucky Australian fan the chance to see the Melbourne hip-hop star play a special, free, one-off show in their hometown. All you need is a camera and love for your city.
To enter, all you have to do is take a photo of yourself and/or your favourite part of your hometown. It can be anything, a pub, a train station, or a public toilet. Upload the photo to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag #illyoneforthecity and in the caption, write in 25 words or less why Illy should play your town. Competition closes Friday, 17th October and the winner is announced the following Monday.
If you’re looking for a little inspiration (or competition) to get you going, you can follow the best entries so far over at Illy’s special One For The City page. Illy has stressed that the most creative entry will be crowned winner and “the likes, shares and comments [on the entry] could also swing my vote.” He adds, “Once I’ve chosen the winning town I’ll send out details of the gig and how you can get on the guestlist.”
The competition comes less than a month after Illy once again demonstrated his commitment to fans when he rescheduled a rural Victorian show after it was cut short following a bottling incident. “I know a lot of people went out of their way… They missed out, so we’re gonna try and rectify that,” said Illy.
